Hey all, I previously posted regarding plans for a 55g, but that has changed to a 75! :headbang2: I got a great deal-60$ for the tank, cover, two 200w heaters (not sure if they work though), 2 old air pumps, lots of fake plants and driftwood, a Magnum 350 canister filter, and a PennPlax hob power filter, and some more accesories.

Now I need to get a stand so I can set it up. Anyway, I have two plecs that are tentatively identified as L387 (I have a post in bottom dwellers thread and plecofanatics.com).

Anyway, I want suggestions on what else to keep with these plecs. I'm thinking some Gouramis (not decided on which), two Kribensis, two angelfish, and a shoal of GloFish.

Changes, additions, suggestions?? Thanks!

I would go with...

A pair of angels
16-20 cardinal, lemon, diamond, bleeding heart, ect. tetra
12 corys
and the plecs

you could then possibly add a pair of apistos or rams.

Sounds like a winner to me! A nice size school of congo tetras would be nice in there too (instead not in
addition the the mentioned tetra school above), I'm not sure if the Angels would have a problem with that tho...

I was thinking that I'd add the angels last so that the other fish would have a chance to grow a little, and the angels I'd get are about quarter to silver dollar sized.

Theres some members who sell angels on this site, check the classified section.

Oh, yeah, and I will have a sand substrate in the 75. Will freshwater Golden Asian clams adequately stir up the sand to prevent anaerobic pockets? Or should I just settle for MTS?

Bump? Nobody else knows stuff?

I'd ditch the kribs... they're neat fish, but when they spawn they can become pretty territorial. Also, I personally wouldn't put angels and gouramis together... I'd go one or the other, as the angels can get nippy with gouramis (or visca versa).

If you go with angels, the koi angels are really attractive. For gouramis, pearl gouramis (aka mosaic, or leeri gouramis) are pretty and peaceful. I'd avoid blues as they can be pretty aggressive and the dwarf gouramis, as they tend to be sickly and don't seem to last very long.

Whether you go angels OR gouramis, try to go with an odd number (like 3, instead of 2). This will allow the dominant one in the group to spread any aggression around, and therefore, the same fish won't be bullied all of the time. You can't sex the angels, but with gouramis you can go 1 male and 2 females.
