Good morning - I have just started a 29 gal tank... it my head, using white gravel would make the plants and decor stand out BUT my tank is UGLY! LOL!! It's just a harsh looking enviroment. Has anyone tried blending the nutmeg gravel with the white gravel?? I was hoping that may work instead of switching it out completely and wasting that money... know what I mean?

Thanks and I am sooo glad I found this site!! I plan to be here lots!!

If your blend contains more nutmeg than white, UR white is going to be toned down.

Try a bit in a small tupper bowl. I myself like the natural earth tones of gravel. If there is a bit of some colored spark once in a while, that is fine, BUT I prefer the earthtones.

I prefer earth tones as well, or almost black like Eco-Complete. I had a white gravel tank when I first started. It was alright, but looked very unnatural. I'm not the biggest naturalist when it comes to scaping either, but I like to err on the side of natural.

For example, my tank right now has dark gravel with off-white boulders. Natural-like because the rocks are real (from my back yard) and has real plants, but not brown with brown rocks, you know what I mean?
