Ok, so heres the deal. A 100 gallon FOWLR (thought i was getting a 200 gallon free, but hey, free is free!!) gallon tank, with a 50 gallon sump. Now, i plan on using a MAK 4 (PCX-40) pump that will pump around 1200 GPH. Now, the overflow box will have a 1-2 inch pvc pipe installed to it to drain the water to the sump. My question is, what size overflow box do i need to drain it quick enough to keep up with 1200 GPH of flow from the sump to the tank??

If the pump sends the water to the tank to fast, and the overflow box can't drain the tank fast enough, their will be a spill over of my tank water.

Does the size of the oveflowbox even matter, or is the size of the drain pipe (PVC installed to overflow) far more important??

I was thinking of using this overflow box, but am not sure it will be big enough or the right one for a pump, sending 1200 GPH to the the main tank..........

It would probably be cheaper (and better!) to just bring the tank to a glass shop or LFS and have it drilled.
