Okay...so there was an accident where a potpourri holder spilled potpourri oil (don't ask) into my freshwater 55 gal, only a thimble or so's worth of the oil got in the water and it killed my entire tank, plants and snails and pleco included. I was completely amazed that it was THAT toxic. After being really really upset, I am now faced with the task of starting over. I'm not sure if I can still use the rocks and deco in my tank, or the tank itself for that matter. If only a little bit of that oil killed everything in the tank, what if some of it gets left on it? I normally use hot water to clean my tank stuff, but I'm afraid to not use some sort of cleaner. Can someone suggest a good cleaner that rinses clean, or how I should go about cleaning out this tank? I'm planning on replacing the rock, but I don't want to replace everything in it as well. Thanks for the advice!!

Oxyclean. Best stuff I've found for cleaning a tank. Use hot water, soak everything, rinse well. For porous items like wood, I would completely replace rather than risk it.
