I have a 30 galloon tank with One 3 spot Gourami and some gold fishes. Recently I introduced a pair of Honey Gouramis to the tank. I found a strange behaviour of my 3 spot Gourami chasing and Harassing the small honey Gouramis, aren't they compatable fishes?? I am confused. Please somebody reply.

They are compatible but the golds and blue or 3 spots can be semi-aggressive sometimes - he's just letting them know who's boss -
my platinum chases my moonlight around constantly n he's the smaller one! lol - anyhow he never hurts him but keep and eye on this -
re-arranging the tank can help sometimes to re-establish territory

i have 2 three-spots, a royal blue dwarf, and a betta in my wife's tank. the chasing is usually a territory thing, is there a good place for each fish to hide? our three gouramis have split the tank into thirds because we made hiding places at each end and in the center.
the betta still chases the dwarf around every now and then, but otherwise they're all cool with each other now.

Gouramis are from the same family as bettas and paradise fish. So they tend to be aggressive with each other over territory. Some are considered more compatible, but in the end are still untrustworthy fish when placed with relatives. They can snap at any time.

I have two male dwarf gouramis that lived together peacefully for almost a year, and then one started beating up the other one to the point that one of them had to be removed. It might work out for a while or even long-term, but keep a close eye on them and be prepared to move fish if necessary.
