I have a 10g with 3 male guppies. I am going to add 2 panda cories soon, then in a couple of weeks add 2 more panda cories.

My final fish was going to be a blue dwarf guorami (spelling) but I have concerns about it nipping the tails of the guppies.

What other solo fish could I get to go with my guppies and corys.

Thanks!

hey i have guppies in a tank with a dwarf gourami and a blue ram cichlid, they behave pretty well dont bother each other :D but thats just me. :thm:

im my experience, the dwarf gourami i had never touched any other fish. he just did his own thing the whole time lol. just make sure that you dont get an opaline, three spot, or gold gourami, for your tank is to small for them

dwarf gouramis are pretty much the only ceterpeice fish for 10 gallon tanks

that's not true by a mile. there are plenty of options. bettas, shellies, all sorts of killies, rams, and dwarf gouramis all make great centerpiece fish for a 10g. but some of these won't do well with most fish, or have special requirements, so the easiest and cheapest option would be either a betta or a dwarf gourami.

Wont the betta bother all the other fish??

So, do you think the dwarf powder blue gouramis is doable?? That is the one I would like but I don't want to have agression.

I've never heard of Shellies, isn't a ram another type of Catfish?

I'll have to pull up that info on Killies - not even sure what they look like.

Any other thoughts :o

no0, not all bettas are agressive, in fact, I have never had one attack another fish. rams are a type of cichlid. shellies is short for shell dwellers, a type of super small cichlid from africa. killies is short for killifish, which are relatives of livebearers.

i hate to steal the thread, but i have the same situation... i can't decide on the "centerpiece" fish... however, i have a 55gal tank, so i have more options... which makes it so hard... originally, i wanted an oscar, then found out that for best results, and the healthiest fish possible, it would be too much work, and i could only have one... so i took that off the list... then someone told me about rams, the german blue, and bolivian... i was told that they demand very specific water parameters, among other stuff... so now i'm looking into dwarf gouramis (several of them, i hope).. here's what i really really want.. i want someone to come look at my tank, and the first thing they say is "wow, that's a pretty cool fish"... then the school of neon tetras, cories skimming the bottom, and other various fish groups swimming around, platys, etc.. i'm looking for the main fish to be about 6 inches, preferably very colorful.. and i would consider a pair of them.. one MAJOR thing... i don't want the fish to look at the others and think "lunchtime!" ...... so, i've told ya what i've got, told ya what has been recommended, and all this for a reason; everytime i ask this on other forums, people tell me the same thing, and the next post will tell me that the fish that was recommended will eat the other fish, or has a low tolerance for change in water, etc. etc... so there ya go.. help and advice is greatly appreciated
