Hi all,
I've searched through every single Internet site in the world (at least it seems like I have), and I still came up empty.
I have decided to run a UV sterilizer on my reef tank again, so I unboxed my perfectly good 25 watt Startronics Omnizap UV sterilizer. I had purchased an extra bulb when I bought a replacement (years ago), so all I needed to do is dust it off, plumb it up, and plug it in! NOT
Time is not kind to anyone nor anything, especially rubber seals. To say that they leak would be a severe understatement. I've boiled them, massaged them with silicone, even considered taking them to a faith healer, but alas they must be replaced.
For those of you fortunate enough not to be familiar with the Startronics Omnizap UV sterilizer, the part I'm looking for (actually I need a set, one for each end of the bulb) is a rubber ring, about 7/8" wide, that is just big enough to fit onto a T8 UV sterilizer bulb (conventional 2 pins on each end). An end cap screws onto the sterilizer, compressing the ring between the bulb and the sides, creating a water tight seal (that's the part mine doesn't do).
The rubber seal gasket for the Aqua brand of UV sterilizer looks exactly like the one I need, except that most modern UV sterilizers have a quartz sleeve that fits over the UV bulb. Their rubber seal fits over the quartz sleeve, making it much too large in diameter (I need about 1").
Thanks so much for taking the time to read this, trust me, it took you a lot less time than it took me to search every single site in the entire Internet trying to find the information on my own (OK maybe I'm prone to exagerate a little, or even more than a little I guess).
Thanks
JimH
