Need to buy a new filter ASAP!!!!!!!!!!

Go fish yourself.
I upgraded from a 46g to a 90g today. I could not for the life of me get my Fluval 304 started on the new tank again. I spent 2 hour trying to get it going and actually broke off the primer thing in doing so. So I took all the filter media out and put it in the tank on top of the little air bubbler for the night.

I need to order a new canister filter asap. I am looking at some on ebay, but I'm not really familiar with the different brands or what they're worth.

I think this one sounds pretty good - what do you think? Is it a fair price?

Help appreciated!!!

it might work, but i would get on google and research it!

i dont know about the eheim.. but i bought a rena xp3 on ebay for 85 shipped and i love that filter

Looks like it's either going to be a Rena XP3 or XP4
OR
a Marineland C-360 or C-530

I would prefer to have extra filtration in case if one day I want to upgrade my tank again.

Are these filters relatively easy to get started up?

Since I have been dealing with a :swear: Fluval that I can never get started, it is VERY IMPORTANT to me to be able to get the filter going reasonably easily.

check Kensfish.com to see if it is a deal

Kensfish has some pretty good deal. I bought a Cascade 1500 canister filter from him for cheap and I love it.

Yes I am definitely buying from kensfish.com - he has the best prices.

What in general are better filters, the Renas or the Marinelands?
Is there such a thing as TOO MUCH filtration?

Thanks!

I've never used the marineland canisters. I know a lot of people like them, I've also heard a fair number of reports of leakage around the inlet connectors. Partly user error (which to me speaks poor design, if its that easy to put it together incorrectly), but in some cases Marineland has sent replacement pieces. I would go with a pair of XP2s or XP3s probably, I've had a few Rena canisters and I find them to be a great compromise between price and quality. Yes they are easy to prime. As far as too much filtration, not really - as long as you have enough biomedia (and "enough" is a surprisingly small amount), the next limiting factor is flow - too much can stress out fish and make a mess of your tank. However, two canisters on a 90 is not even close to that point, especially if you use the spray bars.

I cant answer the canister filter part, but you know you are over filtering the water when the fish are pushed around in the current so mush they look like they are in a blender
