I just purchased two needlefish. I have done some research on the fish and found out that they like slightly brackish conditions. I'm sure it sounds stupid but what does that mean? How much salt do I add to make brackish conditions for them? Also, does anyone have any other helpful tips for me to make these fish as happy as possible? Possible tankmates?
Thanks,
Matt

I have one

Really on this fish or my fish. I just have 1/2 tbspn salt for every ten gallons of water. That should take care of the brackish issue with the fish. As for the tank mates you can put just about any tropical semi-aggressive or community fish you want that wont fit in its mouth. Fish like barbs, gouramis, sharks, eels, loaches, platys, mollys, large tetras. However if you do put fish like danios, small tetras, guppies, anything small he will take advantage of the fish and of course snag a few for dinner and snack. They are a really interesting fish to have, just watch them they can and will miss the guppies or other small fish and will nail the glass. Is kind of a scared fish but not like every site says. Have fun.
