Ok, here's the deal. My neighbor has 3 GSP in the same tank. Not sure about he size, my BF was telling me. Anyway he told me she has them in freshwater and is wondering why they keep dying on her. He told her ohh....my girlfriend would be yelling at you keeping them in freshwater lol. Anyway, can any of you tell me what to tell her about their needs? I have no idea about brackish stuff, how to tell the salinity of the water, what salt to use, what salinity they need, what they should be eating, if they can even be kept together. Anybody know any of this stuff?

GSPs are aggressive need 30g each and should be kept alone. By 2" they need to be in brackish water and by 4" full marine. They will grow to 6" in size.

They need to have snails most days of the week to keep their teeth ground down and if they do not the teeth will overgrow, they will be unable to eat and they will die.

They can live 15 years if kept in proper conditions.

You can have success with multiple GSPs if you get them young and raise them together.

Really? Can you give some information and examples of this success?

By the way jodi, it may also be very important to acclimate them to brackish water if they have been raised and sold as freshwater fish.

Thanks for the help guys. If I get time today, I will try to type up a care sheet then have you guys look at it and see if it is kosher. I dont want to give the lady bad advice, then have her kill her fish.

Well I started a pair from 1" and they have been doing great together ever since, as well as Puffer Punk who raised hers from juvis as well.
