Nematodes in Tank?!?!

I just can't catch a break apparently.

I was looking at my dust ridden tank today (issues with aquasoil, but that's off topic), I saw these tiny little white worm like things dancing about in there. After a quick trip to google I think they're nematodes (according to the post by Fishie Mama here: http://aquamaniacs.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=23591&highlight=tiny+worms+glass and the video that she linked).

I have no idea where they came from. There are no fish in the tank and I certainly haven't been putting food in there.

How the heck do I get rid of them though? I've never had to treat my tank for anything so this is kind of new for me

as of a couple days ago:

pH is 6.5
dKH is 5
KH/GH is 89.5ppm
ammonia: ~0.15ppm
nitrites: ~0.75ppm
nitrates: ~7.5ppm

tank is still cycling since I changed to ADA aquasoil (hence why all my fish are housed somewhere else )

I just read an article the other day regarding getting rid of Hydra and I'm sure it will work for nematodes. I can't wait to try this non-med treatment. Get 2 leads/wires long enough that you can put one at each end (kitty corner) inside the tank. One at the top and one at the bottom. Then connect them to separate terminal of a nine volt batery for 30 minutes. Make sure there are no fish or snails (plants?) in the tank.
I haven't tried this yet as I have to transfer the 2 fish, many snails and plants into a quarantine tank that won't be vacant for a few more days. I could use salt 15ml/gal or do a tear down and a thorough cleaning but where is the fun in that!
LOL

well as long as they won't get my fish sick I'll just leave them alone until I put my fish back into the tank. fish will have a nice snack waiting for them

Yeah, there is scary parasitic Nematodes  such as callamanus, and there is just benign nematodes like the ones we have in our gravel, they actually help break down waste.

they don't look the same do they? the ones I have certainly look like the small little white ribbon (like a thick piece of human hair, biggest ones are maybe 1/5" long) things. the callamanous look more reddish.

You had a problem with Aquasoil? srry off topic

continuing to have a problem with aquasoil would be the correct way to say it. really bad cloudiness in the tank. not exactly sure why, still trying to figure it out. in part it's because I haven't planted my foreground yet so there is a lot of exposed aquasoil. beyond that, though, not sure if there is an issue with the batch that I received or I'm doing something wrong in my tank.

I got a lot of it to clear up today with some Seachem Clarity though. I'm actually really impressed with the stuff, although I had to use double what the bottle said (thanfully no animals in my tanks, besides these stupid worms lol)
