Hi, im new to this forum so hope my query makes sense.

Issue: Neon tetra with white lump on side of mouth near eye.
What it looks like: see attached photos. Its not 'fungusy" - Looks more like a small ball.
Fish behaviour: Still eating, swimming with other fish and hard to get in the net for photos! Fish still has good colour all over
Duration: it's had this at least 3-4 months but lump is slowly increasing in size.
Context: with about 8 other neons in community tank + afew rummy nose, emperor, bristlenose , bumble bee goby. No recent disease outbreaks.
Water: temp = 78-80F, ph = 7.2, no count for ammonia.

Fish is now mature (at least 18 months old.)

Any advice appreciated. Could it be a tumour of some type?

Yeah could very well be a tumor, but seems to have benign effects thus far. Is the growth rate alarmingly fast?

Now take this for what you will, but you could dissect or try you remove the possible tumor. Or let the fish and the growth take its course until other symptoms arrive. Sorry for the small list of options : ( maybe others will have some other ideas for you.

THANKS - neon lump growth would be in the 'slow' category as its taken 4 months to get to obvious size and fish continues moving, eating etc. Might see how things progress . My hope is that its isolated and not in any way infectious.
