Neon with a bulge

Hey everyone,
My girlfriend just called me with a fish question. One of her neons has a bulge just one one side of it's belly. Im at a loss that this is on one side. If it was under its belly I would assume it was pregnant.... Does anyone have any ideas of what this may be? The fish is swimming just fine and is having no issues getting around.

Hi there. Sounds like dropsy--a pretty unfortunate illness/condition. Do a google search for "dropsy" ... there's some medicine for it but I've never had any experience with it.

Chances are that it is sick. Getting neons to breed is very hard, and will not just happen. Could it be food? Or it may be an illness.

Neons aren't livebearers, and don't get "pregnant" per se. It may be laden with eggs (although that probably wouldn't be so pronounced), constipated, have bloat, or a variety of other issues. Is it possible to get a picture?
