Is it just me or do neon tetras get a bit more "glowy" as your water gets better? I don't think it's just the lighting since visually anyway the water looks the same.

I think as fish settle in they start to show their colours better and better generally, absent any source of stress including bad water conditions.

It could also be that the water is clearer and so their colors are brighter. I had a weird experience where my fish tank light wasn't turned on for a little over 24 hours ( boyfriend had been fish sitting and forgot...sigh...) and when I came back my Neon Tetras were practically white! After turning on the light they picked up some color, and are now bright and shiny. Very weird...
