I was just wondering what the pros and cons of these snails are. Have just been seeing them on websites that sell them and was just wondering.

Lots of Pros:

They eat algae off the tank sides like kids eat candy! I have 3 tanks that are in a very sunny room (wrong choice for a fishroom, I know :() and I have several Nerites in all 3 tanks.

Before the Nerites the algae was a major problem with my horrible location selection, but with the Nerites I it's like I have little "maids" cleaning the tank glass.

The Cons:

If you have anything that likes to eat snails you can't have Nerites. That would include anything in the Loach family and Asassin snails. Nerites sometimes like to go above the water line for some reason and you might find them on the floor. This has nothing to do with water quality it is simply a Nerite behavior thing.

For the best and healthiest Nerites I suggest msjinkzd here at AC. All of the Nerites I get from her are healthy and do very well.

What do you mean by just the eggs?

They lay eggs on the glass, which is annoying, but can be scraped off. they don't reproduce unless you have brackish water or some rare water conditions in your FW tank, but they will lay eggs anyway, even though the young will not survive. So I think MG was just talking about the pain of scraping the eggs off the glass or wherever they lay them.

You might also find the eggs unattractive as well.

Some of my fish actually eat them!

i dont really have any eggs on my glass but it does happen. most of the tanks its on wood or anubias
Are there alot eggs?
not too many i think the ones with the most is the olives.

All the pros listed above are true. And the eggs ARE the one major con. They lay obvious white eggs all over my rocks and drift wood. TONS of eggs! They never hatch and my fish won't touch them. Not fun to try to get rid of.

I wouldn't call the eggs a major con, just a minor annoyance, the eggs scrape off really easily...
