So I'm not sure I put the pictures in right, I've never added images before. But assuming I did, this is my new 180 gallon! I've got a more powerfull pump on order from Amazon so I'm waiting to put in the second sponge filter until it arrives; right now I'm using the pump and filter from my old 80 gallon so I could get the tank cycled, and then I added fishies. Since goldfish are my passion, I of course put them in here! There's 2 hibuna, 3 comets, 3 wakin (super lucky to get a hold of those semi-locally a while back) 2 shubunkin, 2 fancy goldfish, and one accidental koi, lol. I'll probably re-home the koi and get another goldfish at a later date but until then my roommate likes him so he gets to stay. So long story short I'm not quite done setting up but I just wanted to share 'cause I'm super excited!

Sounds like a great tank, but the pics are just loading as attachments in your post :(

Okay let's try that again because I'm a moron and can't figure out how to edit my original post either.

Is that a live plant? My experience with goldies is that they will destroy live plants.

I'm still trying to aquascapes/cycle my 180. Mine was built for saltwater, so has a sump system in the middle of the tank.

It's a fake plant, goldfish will absolutely eat anything live you give them, lol. This was built for salt as well, there is a sump tower in the middle of the right-hand wall. I've got the heater on it right now. But since I'm not using the sump, as long as I don't fill it all the way up to the drain slots it's not an issue. Can't wait to see yours!

A good start!

Mine is a real work in progress. The piece of driftwood I was going to use as the focal point just will not sink, and now the hornwort is falling apart. I had algae start taking over, so cut back on the light, which sent the hornwort spiraling. I want BNs because my experience with them has been good, and they supposedly work well for algae control. However, I can only find 1-1.5 inch babies, and I think the sunfish has eaten them despite keeping a large school of minnows and feeding heavy. I also went heavy on the driftwood and mopani for hiding places, but the sunfish seems to be a good problem solver. It's been interesting trying to set up this tank!

Going to do another big water change today, so will probably rearrange the wood again if there are any BNs left. Also seriously considering pulling out the hornwort and adding more anubias.
