I'm changing my 20 gal. freshwater tank into a FOWLR tank but my problem is that I just want to add a couple zoos or mushrooms and don't feel want to drop the 150 to 200 bucks on lights just for the few soft corals. the guy at the lfs said that a single 50% 6000K and 50%Blue Actinic 03 18watt bulb would do the job. I'm asking anyone out there if this will work or not. Also i'm planning on using a Marine 200 bio-wheel filter and an aquaclaer 200 for filtraion. Any advice on lighting and/or filtration would help me out greatly.

Thank you

hi there,
Your light could do with been 7000k & above but if its a duo bulb then you wont have any problem with mushrooms they can thrive much better in low light & filtration is not to much of a problem either as long as you have 10kgs of live rock then all you need filter wise is something to run carbon/phos remover etc in

im not sure about zoo`s see what other replies you get regarding them & any other advice people can give you on your Question.

It is a 20 gal high. In doing further research/common sense, I also thought about buying a duel bulb hood. That way I could place 2 18 watt bulbs to obtain approximately 2 watts per gal. I really don't know if i need that much for a couple hardy soft corals.

P.s. i'm sorry to say that i had to sweetin the deal by telling my wife if we got a saltwater tank i would make sure there could be some nice looking corals
