Ok, so I'm at the LFS and spot a new tank. :wall:
I believe it's made by Marineland and it's 150 gallon, 36" X 36" X something like 31" model. Really caught my attention since it isn't the typical long, thin tank. Really nice.
I order one with the stand and canopy as well as get the starphire <? glass in it.:grinyes:

Questions would be....
1. What sump, skimmer, return pump and skimmer pump would you set this up with?
2. Would a single 36" P.C. fixture be enough or would you go with 2 since the dimensions are different from conventional?

Keep in mind I have a budget of about $1000 TOTAL for everything right now as well.

I have a 75G semi-reef tank that I will be building this one off of, taking the arragonite base and live rock from.
I will be adding 70lbs. more live rock as soon as it's filled and about 80lbs. more base rock.... Do I need to let this cycle again before stocking?
Or just keep a close eye on it for a month or so?

Thanks for any advice you can give.

? bump ?

Questions would be....
1. What sump, skimmer, return pump and skimmer pump would you set this up with? That really depends on the dimensions of your stand. I know your tank is 36x36 but the inside dims of the stand could be quite different depending on the bracing on the inside-could take up a couple of inches. Are your wanting to DIY or get one custom made to your specs?
2. Would a single 36" P.C. fixture be enough or would you go with 2 since the dimensions are different from conventional? What are you planning on keeping? and how deep is the canopy you got?

You might get a mini cycle out of the change if the new LR is really clean and semi cured. I went from the 70 to the 125 and added about 80# or so of additional LR and got a minicycle out of it lasted about 3 days in the spike of amonia.
Or just keep a close eye on it for a month or so?

If you can answer a few of the questions, then I can continue to respond if you would like.
Thanks for any advice you can give.

Please see my responses in blue above. Hope they help.

I was thinking of building one myself to save some money but may purchase one to save time and get it set up.

Not sure of the canopy size as it didn't come in yet. Picking it up Friday.
I'm keeping fish and mostly soft corals, not really into any sps or anything yet. If I do I know I'll have to upgrade, just wondering if it will spread the light around the tank enough.
I guess I'll have to buy a light and see if one is enough.

The rock that I will be getting is supposed to be cured. I'll keep an eye on it for a few days after set up to make sure.

Sorry it took so long but my work schedule doesn't allow me much time right now but I try to check in here when I can.
Thanks you for your response so far, I appreciate it.
Thanks for any advice you can give.

Got It!!

Got the new tank today and am now working on setting up the plumbing for the sump, pumps, skimmer and overflow system.
I'm sure the questions will be flying once I get into it a little further.

way cool man!...keep us posted!.. and im guesing youll need more light..
last i heard, most lights were designed with a 2 foot dispersement so id say go with a wider hood, with a couple lights...like maybe one of those 6 bulb t5 setups that are about 12 inches wide... but i have no expierience to base my thoughts from...they are just my thoughts...
