I've just purchased a new 46 gallon bow front and was hoping to set it up with real plants (I've always has plastic :headshake2: ). I'm not sure 100% how to proceed. The fish that will be moved into the new tank are: 1 giant pleco, 3 pink gouramis (one of which is 7 years old and rather huge) and 2 sunset platys. I would stock up a bit more once the tank matured.

Could anyone recommend some very hardy beginner plants that would be suitable for my tank or fish selection. I'm not sure what my watts per gallon would be, the light I have is the one that came with the tank.

I'm a little lost :help: Any advise or direction would be greatly appreciated :) Thanks!

Yes, be sure to read Rex's guide.

Also, the lights that come with the tank normally don't sustain plant life very well. While in college, I was able to grow watersprite, java fern, and banana plants alright with just the normal aquarium hood lights. I think java moss and anubias will also do alright in low light. Good Luck.
