Alot of people keep Africans from Lake Tanganyika successfully with plants. I'm not sure of the exact fish though, as I'm a Malawi person. I'm also not sure how aggressive most Tangs are.
I'd steer clear of Malawian Mbuna though (which is mostly what you see in "mixed african" tanks at the LFS). Mbuna will devour most plants and are aggressive. Peacocks may be ok to keep, but they are still a little aggressive and I wouldn't keep alot of them together, as they are the same genus (Aulonocara) and may interbreed. I'm not sure about Malawian Haps.

And would appreciate CO2 injection.glossostigma needs at least 3.5 watts of light per gallon..
