New 55g Stock list

I have a 55g i am going to plant (not too heavily) once i get better lighting.
Tank fully cycled - 0 ammonia, 0 nitrites, between 5 and 10 nitrates

i have currently
-2 German Rams (female looks like shes going to die )
-3 Angels (about half dollar sized)
-1 Sailfin Pleco

want to add
-4-5 Julie(?) cories
-Maybe 5-10 tetras - either Serpae, Rummynose, or cardinal (if i can find them anywhere), or black neon.

kinda going for an Amazon biotope without all of the plants. Basically the fish.

I think if you want the best look overall you'll want to pay close attention the preferred levels of the fish you will stock.

If you keep rams and cory then the bottom of your tank will already be very busy.

Angels are kind of up and down and all around, but generally hover somewhere in the middle.

With that in mind I'd look for something that will inhabit the middle to top to round out your collection.

Cardinals will tend to be more mid/bottom while the Serpae and Rummy will stay more to the middle. I think from that group the black neon tetras would be the best selection as they'll swim high quite often. Another one of my personal favorites is a Lemon Tetra which I think would do quite well for you. Same for the Harlequin Rasoboras.

I'm curious what your wc schedule is like..
you have angels and rams (good combo in my opinion) both do well with good clean water.

keep in mind the angels get relatively large..
if you decide on other tetras pay heed that you should get the larger tetras.they usually don't recommend tetras with cichlids(like angels)
tho I have heard of tanks with that set up.

I have danios in the tank with my angels no problems if you don't mind fish that are constantly swimming(they have been known to swim upstream into my HOB filter...without any real issues)

well im down to 1 ram, evidently she had ich when i bought her because it showed up the day after and the pleco died.

i think i might get some cories and maybe some danios

I'm doing an amazon biotope as well. most of the blackwater creeks are pretty sparsely planted anyway, I have red flourite substrate with a few swords, and I want to get a few vallisneria as well, then just a few pieces of driftwood for cover. I just picked up a group of marbled hatchets, they're really cool topwater fish. They cruise around right at the surface. I guess they're known to jump though, so you need a tight, enclosed hood with no spaces they could jump out. i had a little trouble finding them, but i think they're very cool and worth the drive.
