Hi, I just added a new angel to my aquarium, and he seems to be doing okay, except that he spends a lot of time in the corner on the top. He eats just find, and nothing else seems to be wrong with him. I didn't know if he was feeling stressed or bored, or something else. Any ideas?

What size is the tank and what other fish do you have in your tank? Tank maintenance and water parameters? What strain is this angel and when did you buy it?

If water parameters are good, some just need a little time to get comfortable. Also plants and a dither type fish will help them out, especially if the tank is big and empty.

More info would be nice...did he just come out of a QT tank?

I had to move one of my Angels into my main tank due to aggression in one of the smaller tanks. The poor little thing just sat in the top corner - it ate and was fine, but would not leave that spot. A few days later I did some more rearranging of tank mates and then put the Angel back into a smaller tank and it was fine.

I really think that there was just too much open space and not enough little hiding places for it to feel safe. The main tank is setup for my Black Ghost so it is logs, large rocks, and no plants. Lots of Danios and larger Tetras.

Perhaps adding some plants (real or plastic) would help your Angel to settle in a little better.

I didn't quarantine him! I know that's bad, but I was excited! I just got him 3 days ago. Sometimes he'll leave the corner, but not usually. I have 2 other angels in my 20 gallon tank. The biggest one is about the size of a quarter, the other two are a little smaller. The biggest one is kind of a bully, but only if the others get too close. So far, I haven't seen any signs of serious aggression. I've been watching them closely to make sure no one gets hurt.

Well, one of my older angels gets along fine with him. It's just the biggest that kind of bosses them both around. I thought that might be somewhat of an issue. I think i'm going to try and rearrange things in the tank and add more hiding places and see if that helps.
