i recently setup a new tank to breed angelfish in, it's well planted water is buffered to a ph of 6.5 and i have to filters running it is this good enough for breeding.

also one of my fish is swimming slightly on it's side from time to time is this a normally occurrence? and lastly what are the indication that my fish are ready to breed?

cheers

yes when may angels chase a fish off they go a bit sideways. sorry i dont know the answer to your second question. good luck
Katie

how big is the tank? you really shouldn't mess with ph, because if something happens and during water changes, it will fluctuate and it'd be worse on the fish that way.

a good way to tell if your angels are about to spawn is if they are chasing fish away, seem to be 'cleaning' a surface, or if they lock jaws and seem to be fighting a lot.

there aren't any other fish in there except a few bristlenose, they don't seem to be cleaning the slate i gave them. is there some way to initiate this behavior?

there isn't much you can do to initiate spawning. try feeding them high protein foods and do frequent water changes. it's possible they just aren't old enough yet.

Yes Beefheart is a good source of food for growing your angelfish out and also if your trying to breed I would suggest feeding frozen blood worms and a color enhancing fish food to get them to perk there color more.
