New Betta = RIP

I hadn't had my new betta a week before he died. I discovered a slight of amount of fungus yesterday (treated with Jungle Fungus Guard) but it did not save him. A friend bought one from the same LFS the same day. Hers died two days ago. Sad .

At least I can make the 1 gallon a q-/h-tank. I try to see the positive in things.

Sorry to hear that. I wouldn't be buying a new betta from that place until they at least get a new batch in. And try to make sure they have had them in the store for at least a week. That generally means they will have a better survival rate (at least for me anyway).

The bettas are their best sellers. They get shipments in on Mon or Tues and they are gone by the weekend. If they do have any left, it is because they are ugly and/or deformed or being treated for something.

I know that happens in a lot of places. I used to have to buy from Walmmart and the bettas would last a day. Of course when I was wandering by the fish the next week taking a look, I often saw the same people back for a new betta. A real shame.
