A while back (about a month ago) I posted about my new computer buying experience...which at the time I was not to happy about. Now I have to eat my words! I am not one to say something, end up being wrong and not admitt my mistakes.
Anyway, when I got the computer it didn't work (or so I thought) I had connected it all, turned it on and the monitor was saying "no input", so I thought maybe it just needed installed. Pushed the button to open the CD drive and nothing happened tried a couple more times still nothing...so I contacted HP, at first I was told I'd have to send it back and re-order it (which would cost me about 100.00 more) of course I was ticked and said no way!! Then talked to someone else who said they would escalade the case to a case manager and they would be getting ahold of me. In the meantime I had a HP employee get a hold of me through email (from reading my post here/someother site) and offered to try and help me with this problem. Well between that person and my self both trying to get someone to contact me finally someone did try to call (a few weeks later) and I was at work so I didn't get to talk to them. Well in the meantime I decided to set the computer up again (b/c the HP employee that contacted me wanted to know exactly what it was/was not doing). First I took the panel off to look inside and make sure the memory cards and such were installed.....well to my surprise the DVD/CD drive WAS there, now why it didn't open was beyond me. Then I connected the monitor but got the same response. Disconnected everything again, was irritated. Started going through everything that came with the computer and found a adapter (it was in a plastic bag with the paperwork for connecting your computer to the t.v.)well it looked like it would fit to the monitor plug in, looked on back of the computer and at the bottom there was a spot the adapter would fit, so I figured I give it a try...low and behold it fit, turned everything on again and holy *rap it worked!!!!!!!!! So needless to say I started all this for nothing, everything works everything is fine and I love my new computer!

Now in my defence...had I been able to talk to someone who would actually listen to what was going on, and not pass me back and forth between people or had someone got a hold of me when they should of maybe we could of figured this all out a MONTH ago (I'm sure I'm not the only one who connected the monitor in the spot it showed and the spot I knew to plug it in) I could of been using this computer and finished taking the online class I put off because my old computer would freeze up during test so it was impossible to take them with that computer.

Now to close, I just wanted to update since my last post "computer vent"

Thanks all for listening,

Gin

well, in the defense of the HP people,

I'm thinking that they figured YOU'D GET THE PART ABOUT PLUGGIN IT IN RIGHT!!!!

:D

Just kidding. . . happens to the best of us... ;)

Nice to see everything finally working . ..

Gin, you are certainly not alone in your computer issue you had..I have spent the last 10 years fixing, repairing and building computers and business networks and have seen so many similar complaints and a lot of the time, its just down to one reason....the documentation...i have seen new computers from places like Dell, HP, Packard Bell and i have never seen a correct installation guide..I always put this down to each documentation pack is a generalised version and not really specific to a particular build..the docs are all well and good if you buy a computer that is basic, but, once you start changing the specification slightly of that computer, like a different video card ( which in your case needed an adapter ), the docs go out the window...

So, i do understand where your coming from on this....

Yeah, I had it plugged in to the right spot (from past exerience's) you know toward the top (on my computer it's a blue spot that match's the end of the plug with the screws) Hp is color coded (nice UNLESS you use an adapter at a different spot) and the adapter WAS in the baggie with the instructions to hooking your computer up to the tv sooooooo I assumed (stupid I know) that the adapter was for that purpose..which I wasn't using it for.

Thanks Niko!
