Yes. Best way would be to move everything from the cycling tank to the new tank. Gravel, decorations, filter, etc.

Bad link. Anyway, you would transfer the media from your current filter to the new filter or to the tank. If it's an HOB filter, you could rubberband the old media around the new intake, or if it fits in the media slot, use it there.Jess7 said:

Sorry for the stupid question, but by the media do you mean the filter cartridge? And is the intake inside the filter compartment?

I'd move over all of the gravel, then attach the new and the current filter. That way, you retain all of the cycling bacteria, and allow the new filter to establish as well. Or, take the filter median out of either filter and put that into the tank and just have one of the filters going. If that makes sense.

Well how do you know when you switch out the cartridge? I'm assuming that you should not change it during the cycle...
Also, if I get this 6g, would it be safe to assume that it could house the betta and 2 dwarf frogs?
