Just some info about my Diamond Watchman Goby I got, that I thought I would share.

First off, looks. He is amazing to look at. The purple and orange spots are awesome.

Second, fish bahaviour. My Red Spotter Dottyback hates him and will stalk him, luckily my dottyback is afraid of all light, and will not swim far out of the rocks. Plus my single clownfish has now taken to chasing the dottyback sine I got the goby. He used to ignore the dottyback but now he chases him, surprisingly the clown is afraid of the goby, and the goby will chase the clown if he bugs him to much. My clown is always following him as he turns up the sand snatching bits of food he puts into the water.

Finally, SUBSTRATE MOVEMENT, I have mostly CC, with some smaller bits. OMG, my goby is insane. He has moved so much substrate it is ridiculous. He has dug a huge hole on one side of my frogspawn. He moved a ton of substrate from one side of the front of my tank, and made a huge pile out in the middle. I think he buried a few hermit crabs. He is out of control, he is just moving stuff all over. I have to go in and move the substrate all back. But I have to give him credit. He is fixing my detritus issue from having CC. He seriously digs down about 2". He is churning up so much crap it is not funny. My skimmer and filters are working OVERTIME. I had to empty my skimmer twice in 3 days. I really think he is going to fix my algae problems. I am not reading any levels of nitrate or phosphates but I think my CC substrate had been producing lots, and the algae have just been eating it, hence keeping a zero balance when I test. So I am hoping this will get some of the nutrients out. I will move to a sand bottom, but I need to save up some cash, I have spent to much so far, and cannot afford the time required to move from CC to sand right now, work is very busy.

This is a wicked fish. I am glad I went with him over the lawnmower blenny.

Wow comical is an understatement. My diamond is amazing. Here is how my tank works since my goby was added. He was a little shy at first but now he has made friends with my clown. My tank has a pink spotted dottyback who is aggressive to everything except my clownfish. Dottyback attacks goby, my goby is boss of the clownfish, and the dottyback is afraid of the clown, so it is a strange power struggle. But the Goby is not aggressive, so he is boss of the clown but keeps him around.

My Clown actually follows my goby around and protects him from the dottyback. Here is a picture:

Also my goby has dug a huge cave directly under my brain coral in the bottom left of the picture. It is a crazy fish. And I love that my clown fish follows him and protects him, but is not allowed to get to close or the goby gets mad, while he is digging.

No doubt Grins. I woke this morning late for work to find my goby had dug up that feather duster and moved him away from his cave. And when I say dug up, like he would have had to go like 2" down to even get to the base of the duster. I am surprised he did not stress it to the point of crowning. I hope it is still ok when I get home. I will have to find a new home for him tonight I guess. My goby is very demanding. I just wish he would go after the dottyback so he would stop stressing him. He has some bites out of his fins and they have not grown back yet. I am worried in the long run the dottyback may wear him down. My clown can only spend so much time gaurding the goby, as he loves to go rub himself in the leather he is hosting in. :p

Has he claimed to a cave yet? Mine laid claim to the best rock in the tank and managed to create multiple doors to it. If he isn't swimming freely in the tank, hogging up all the food he is lounging in one of his doorways.

Wow. I need to figure out what to do with my feather duster. He moved it again last night. He is certainly energetic. He never stops. I buried the feather duster while he was in the back of the tank last night, and before lights out he had rescaped the whole front of the tank, and then when I went to bed an hour after lights out, he had uncovered and moved the feather duster again and two hermits were climbing all over it.

Yes Grins, he has a cave. My brain coral is on a huge shell, which may be part of the coral, I am still confused about brain coral. Anyway, I had it flat on the bottom of the tank, on the sand. He decided it would be a good place to live, so he dug directly under it. My sand bed is 3" deep, and he has dug right down to the glass on the bottom. I also noticed last night, he created another entrance on the other side.
