I just got some fish tuesday night and I'm pretty happy with my old tank again but I was wondering something, do any of you treat your new fish with antibotic food, salt, water treatments, or anything else after getting them?

I was about to add salt just ward off any ick that might develop and thought before I did it that I'd see if anyone else has any rituals before going that route.

I did once read that some people do salt water baths before adding fish to an established tank a long time back but this is a new setup and all new fish.

Any time I add fish to a tank I do some extra water changes mid week besides my regular weekly changes just to help them settle in and to provide them with the better water quality that comes with that.

Spend time getting to know your fish's apearance, behavior, and whatever else about them that you can observe to get a solid idea of what this fish is like to relate any future observations you have about the fish. This will help you know when your fish is doing well and not.

I don't treat for anything unless I observe some thing that gives me reason to medicate. Adding anything extra to the water can prolong the adjustment your fish needs to make to your water and unless there is a problem or something specific you are adressing on a consistent basis already I wouldn't do anything but water changes.
