Haven't had time to get really good pics of him--he's quite photogenic, just tends to hng out at the back of the tank. Commersoni's frogfish. Happily chomping on ghost shrimp for now--going to work on getting him to take prepared foods or silversides.

Yes--the biggest issue is feeding, and tank mates. Most people keep them in a species only setup--often as the only fish. They are like lions--anything that will fit in their mouth becomes a meal. Since they can eat fish 2/3 their mass, they are formidable predators, and will cannibilize smaller frogs.

We're going to try keeping him in the FO 120--if that doesn't work, he'll move into a 29 by himself. Biggest worry for now is that he won't be able to compete with the trigger for food--he hunts by waiting for food to get close enough that he can gulp it down, so I'm not sure if the trigger will leave food alone long enough.

always thought those fish were pretty cool. Was always weary of them because of the "eat anything big enough to fit in my mouth" mentality they possess and I'd heard if they overfeed they can stop feeding. But good luck on that guy, wish I had enough tanks/time/money to manage a species only tank with those.

I'm not planning on trusting this guy with any crustacenas. My understanding is that he will eat anything he can--and having watched him slurp down ghost shrimp, I am sure that ornamental shrimp would suffer the same fate. Hermits--maybe not--but I wouldn't want to risk it, since that hermit shell might kill him.

Right now, he's about 3 inches long, about 2 inches high. He's got us trained--we come sit in front of the tank to check everything out, and when he's hungry, he starts 'swimming' all over the tank. So, we go get him a shrimp, and he slurps it down.

Thanks Dale--we think he's pretty cute. ;)
