I got a honey sunset gourami last night. He's in my 5 gallon right now. He was hiding most of the night, which I expected. But today he's near the front, just resting on the bottom.

I put some food in, he was mildly interested, ate a flake or 2, then went back to resting on the bottom. I seeded this tank from my 29, I just tested and it's 0 across the board, pH is 7.2. the temp is around 78, is that warm enough? there's a heater in there, so I'm surprised that it's that low.

Am I just worrying too much, and he's just stressed from the new tank? Or what?

Great, I hit submit, and the fish starts swimming. Swam around for a few seconds anyway, but he's back at the bottom.

Give him time.

Is 0 ppm nitrates normal for your tank?

Well, the 29 yeah, it's pretty heavily planted, so it depends on when I last added ferts, but it's never higher than 5. It's been running for about 2 months now.

I put some BioBalls for the 29 in this tank, and added them to the 5, and added the gourami shortly after.

Two words:

Blood Worms

Ok, more words...

They LOVE them. If it doesn't go after blood worms, then I might be worried... also, keep an eye on your chemistry...

I would really give it more time to settle in before becoming too concerned. When I got my honey gouramis, it took thema couple weeks in qt to really adjust.

Thanks guys. :) I'll keep an eye on everything, and I do have bloodworms! ;)

Okay, he's still on the bottom, and the top of his head is turning dark. :help:
