NEW STINGRAY!

Awesome! yay for rays! my favorite aquatic fishy friend.

Go through the sand very carefully. Some bags have some weird sharp pieces in them.

So Is the blasting sand okay to use with them ,i have never owned a stingray so idk if certain sands will hurt them and i dont wanna spend 119$ to find out the hard way. And ive had it in the tank for a while so its pretty smooth, or atleast it looks that way.

I read something about blasting sand on another forum. What was said was there may be sharps, metal, or other foreign objects in it because it's not designed for aquarium use. It would be better to spend the extra $ for black aquarium sand. Pool or play sand was suggested as a cheaper alternative, if color isn't an issue.

Just some 411: I've used Black Diamond Blasting Media in a cichlid tank. It's plenty fine for scaled fish wether they be bottom dwellers or diggers but I would never use it in a ray tank with how delicate their skin is.

Me personally, I would stay with pool sand. There are two different colors that I have come across. Lighthouse is a more natural color. The other is white. Forget the name of the company off the top of my head. I'll have a look when the lights come on this morning.

I use pool sand and i personally think it would be great for rays. Plus its a bit easier to clean that play sand or the ones you buy at a pet store
