New tank cloudy water

Just wanted to check if everything is normal. This is my first tank! I have a 120 gal. tank with a eheim prof. ll 2028 canister filter, a maxi-jet 1200 powerhead by marineland, and two jager 200 watt heaters. I am doing a fishless cycle. I am adding 60 drops of pure ammonia a day, I am testing the water every day and so far have 0 ammonia, and 0 nitrates. The water is cloudy and their seems to be a film on top of the water. I have 5 pieces of
driftwood that I bought at Big Al's. I soaked them in water in a pail and changed the water 5 different times to get the tannin out, but the water has a yellow tinge to it still.
The tank temperature is 81.7 F. I unplugged one heater because it was getting to hot. I turned the remaining heater down to 75 F. and it is still 81 F. I have a digital thermometer on the opposite end of the tank from the heater. If I look at the tank from one end I cannot see the other end because it is so cloudy. I have silk plants and lace rocks also bought at Big
Als. Should I do a large water change to get the water clearer. Thank you.

New tanks are usually a little clowdy. I wouldn't change the water right now, let it cycle since there are no fish in it. As far as the color, the driftwood will probably do that for a long time.

The number of heaters doesn't matter (actually more is better), they turn on and off as needed. If your heater is set to 75 and your tank stays at 81 its probably a bad heater and stays on all the time.

Your ammonia and nitrates are zero? what about nitrites? If your nitrites read zero you either need to add more ammonia, or get new test kits. You shouldn't read all zero's.

it will take a lot longet to get all of the tannin out

the cloud is most likely bacteria blooms (good for you)

or it could be algea blooms (bad for you)

if its by a window block the sunlight from getting in.
also since theres no fish in it and no real reason to look at an empty tank you could do a blackout. if its an algea bloom it will kill it off if its a bacterial bloom it wil do diddly squat, although you may never know cause it might be done with the bloom before the blackouts over if its bacteria.

Thank you for responding to my problem. I checked my test kit (tetratest) and it has no test for nitrates. I made a mistake in my results I tested for nitrites. I will have to go out and buy a nitrate test kit. I am adding more ammonia until I a get a reading of 5ppm. and see if that helps. I took the heater back and got another one, so I will see how it works. Thanks again.
