new tank, how many gallons?

i just got a new tank, and i was curious how many gallons it can hold.
the dimensions are: 36 inches by 15 inches.

Remember, the real amount of water that a tank can hold is not the amount that you calculated. That's the amount that the tank can hold without substrate, decorations, and fish...of course. My tank is a 20 gallong tank, but I only have ~15 gallons of water in there and it's filled to the top.

Yes, good point, If you need to medicate or add water conditioner, then its by volume.....
