Ok here is my attempt at taking pictures. Most aren't very good. i can't seem to figure my camera out. I have the flash off and macro on. Some of the pictures are clearer because I had just done a water change but later pictures have a lot of tannins in the water. I'm also really new at this so my aquascaping might not be very good. I know the wood on the end looks funny but I can't help but think it will look better when there are more plants. If not at least it provides extra cave space.

Rams

One of these seems to be coloring up into a gold ram, not a german blue much to my surprise. Some of these pics I took right when I got home so their color isn't as bright. I think they are pretty young too. Hmm it looks like none of my decent pictures are of the one I am sure is a male (well I think the one that is a gold might be a male but the other is camera shy):

Pretty Nice Tank. Maybe some tall valisneria in the background to make it look less sparse. On your camera, once you set it on to shutter priority mode, hit the down arrow to lower the shutter speed. From your description it seems like you have an Olympus model.

Nice pics... curious what type of camera your using... digi? Does it have manual controls on it? I think photographing aquariums is an art in itself. As I cant get it right on the first attempt I usually ended taking about 20 pictures to get one good picture. I save most all my pictures on my computer regardless and to date I have taken over 600 pictures of fish/aquariums. I find some fish turn out better w/ flash while other fish show there color better under ambient light. A couple other things I have noticed is with a flash you need clean glass (outside and inside) because the flash will really show those water streaks like on your first pic. The other biggest thing is focus, as alot of auto focusing mechanisms have trouble with glass. Sometimes manual can get you better results. And without flash usually the shutter speed is low and you might benefit from a tripod, and also if the fish is moving it will blur in a long shutter speed pic. Just some things I have learned.

also, I wouldn't use the macro, unless you're taking a macro shot (of a fish). Take regular pictures of the tank and just play with the aperture and shutter speed to get the best results.

Yes I'm planning on having Vals. I'm going to be bidding on some plant packages once my ich treatment is finished. This will be a heavily planted tank once I'm finsihed with it. I just couldn't wait, so I bought a couple plants at the pet store.

Your right on! I have an Olympus C-3020. I'll give that a try.
