New to leds

My reason for a longer photoperiod is because plants originating in the tropics are used to longer days, or photiperiods in general, plants from further away from the equator will have different growth patterns for summer rather than winter and normally summer growth is designed to be bigger and better looking rather winter where it is more about preservation and potentially dropping leaves getting ready to freeze.

If you want a little reading, probably the biggest proponent of this would be Kasselman.

And controlling the overall amount of light by dimming it or raising the fixture.

But.. as always, it's your tank, whatever works best for you :)

thank for the help Dougall & fishorama, going to start with 1 light for 10hrs and see how that goes the tweak it up from there, hopefully get the rest of my plant order today
