new to pants

i have added one swrd plant in my 23 galon tank which is only about two months old. i contains two guppies, 24 guppy fries and 8 ghost shrimps.and i wil goin to dd 2 or 3 more plants next month. so for these plants do i needto add co2 and some sort of fetilizers or fis ill going to complete these equriment. thnx
 
C02 is helpful in any tank, if you want to undertake it. However, in low-light tanks (that would be around 23 to 35 watts of fluorescent lighting over your 23 gallon tank) it's not necessary. Same with fertilizers--not usually necessary in low-light tanks, more necessary as you increase light levels and your plants start to grow faster.

Is your tank low-light?
 
If you stick to low-light plants (java fern, java moss, cryptocorynes, anubias, to name a few), C02 & ferts will not be necessary.

I've got a low-light tank, and all I use for fertilizer is a healthy feeding of fish food and a tiny bit of Flourish Excel every few days.

If you add C02, your plants will likely grow faster, and will likely require fertilization to match the plant growth.
 
If you're new to pants, it's ok. Just put one leg in at a time...
