New to Salt Water

I am new to the Salt Water Aquarium hobby. I was looking at getting a 92 gallon corner tank. I have heard many different opinions on what I need to get started and was looking for some clarification. Do I need a wet dry filter? I had a recommendation to get 2 Eheim canister filters instead. Is live rock really worth it besides for looks? I was looking at doing a FO tank but may add live rock.

Thoughts for a beginner,
 
hmm . .. Well, the best advice I can give you is, don't spend a penny on anything just yet .

Depending on what kind of marine tank you want to build, you have several options on how to set it up .

start off by reading the threads... As questions, get specific. . . And if you get advice from LFS workers, make sure to research their advice as well.

- Wet and dry filters are just one way to provide filtration, my opinion, not the best way...Going down the route of the two ehiems is certainly a better choice. As your wanting a fish only system, live rock is not required, however can certainly be added in small ammounts at a time once the tank is up and running. Live rock is not just there for looks. It provides the backbone to a reef system in which it provides a habitat for live to grow in, on and around...it provides the filtration for the system as well.. A tank that has an acceptable ammount of live rock does not require any other method of filtration like canisters or wet/dry filters as the rock does all this for you..

Come over to the marine boards, look around, read lots and ask many questions. We are all here to help in any way we can..
