I am new to the cichlid hobby and I was wondering how I should stock my 75 gallon tank. Specifically, should I try to have a few species? (mostly peacocks) with harems? Or should I go for an all male population?

I suggest only one species of Aulonocara (peacock) in the tank if you decide to stock male and females to avoid crossbreeding.

It can be difficult to stock an all male Aulonocara tank as you will want males that look nothing alike. You could do a combination of Aulonocara males and some Haplochromis males to get the colors your like.

Is the 75G tank a standard rectangle?

Thank you for your reply.
Yes it is. I also have a rock "wall" that is about 15 inches tall and runs the length of the tank. Right now I have a bristle nose pleco and 4 nerites.

I'm looking at saulosi and I was wondering how large a community I should have and whether yellow labs would be good tank mates.
