new water filter

My saltwater emperor 500 is no longer working. I am going to get a aquaclear 500 to replace it. Will I have to let the tank cycle again since I am getting a new filter and will this hurt any of my livestock. I have a 80 gallon reef and fish aquarium Thanks nananurse

I switched mine over to a similar system (using chaeto and lighting) without any problems. No cycle, no nothing but more clear water, lower nitrates and less noise

stick your media from your old filter in the new filter as it is this that cotains the bacteria but also leave your new media in so it gets seeded...
