New World Cichlid compatability

Hello all. I just registered here, although I will admit that I've trolled here for a long time, gleaning info where and when I could. ;)

I have a couple of questions about compatability. I've researched it online and gotten some pretty disparate information...

1) Do angels and rams get along?

2) How about a severum and a festivium?

3) How would any of the above combos get along with a school of corys currently in the tank? I know that the severum could grow large enough that the "anything that fits in its mouth" rule may come into play, but what about aggression? I'd hate to see them soundly thrashed, I've come to love the buggers! lol

Thanks for your help.

Severums can be aggressive; there was a post quite a while back on how a Severum 'ate' a cory and the cory got lodged into its throat.

Angels and rams get along well together, there might be some territorial aggression from the rams to angels but nothing serious.

Sorry, I don't know much about festivums (or Severums).

Severum isn't exactly aggressive. Eating cory (small fish) is another cichlid instinct. They will try to find fish that fit in their mouth. Of course, that severum didn't know about about the cory's spine. My C. Septemfasciatus also ate fry. Does that make him aggressive?

Anyway, Severum just likes to push others around. However, when comes up against a bigger and more aggressive fish, they run the other way. Severums gets "aggressive" only when they are breeding. Even that I don't consider aggressive. They only chase off everyone that they believe would harm their babies, but never have the time to actually attack them because they don't have the time :)

Severum and Festivum will work perfectly together. Severum max out around 7-8". Festivum is about 5-6". Severum grows pretty fast around their first year. Once they reach 4-5", the grow will slow down. I'm not sure about Festivum. Never have experience on them.

Thanks for the replies. Since I definately want to keep the cories, I guess I'll go with the Angels/Rams setup for now. Of course, since the centerpiece fish I'm going to get are smaller, maybe I'll pick up another trio of cories while I'm at it. :D
