Newbie help

Im new so please be kind. I wanted to setup a 5g FOWLR for my room since thats all I have room for(besides a 1g) but I have questions.

The TopFin acrylic 5g's, are they good for saltwater tanks? I really am just looking for a display tank besides the planted freshwater.

What would be a good saltwater fish for this tank? I heard Clowns but they seem to get(IMO) too large for 5g's.

What equipment is needed? I know salt and a heater and a PH(or 2), but what else.

I would try to go at least 10 gal. But if you don't have the room you could always get a catalina goby. They are very interesting and atractive.

yea a 5 isnt gona work to well. the water wont stay stable u can do it but it will be hard. id recommend a 10 or larger for an easier time and if u do get really good filtration.

a 5G will work fine, you just need to top off evap as soon as you see it and test daily. preform WCs at least once weekly or as needed. it really isn't as hard as they say as long as you remember to test daily and top it off often. i'd reccomend a neon goby or a clown goby with a some ceriths and nassrius snails, possibly a porcelain crab.

Topping it off means taking the top off? Is this for the heat or the saturation in the evaporated water? I been planning on a SW tank for a long while and now get the chance so.I have to see what my nearest store has on fish selection first. On wc's I am going to do it every week maybe more if I need to. I am going to cycle the tank first but that confuses me aswell. How do you know when the tank is cycled? Is it the same as FW?

no, it means to refill the tank back up to the water level it was originally at. if too much water evaporates from a nano aquarium, you could have a bad salinity spike that may kill your fish/inverts.

what u can have really depends on the equipment but id say like maybe 2 fish that dont get bigger than 2 inches or one larger fish it all depends on the specifics. look up fish for nano aquariums and then ask us if ut choices are going to work.

I wouldn't put two fish unless they were no more than 1" each. pretty much the only fish you can have in a 5G are gobies IMO, though I beleive there are 1 or 2 blennies small enough to do well as well as a few other fish.
