There's nothing wrong with the tap pH; the fish will adjust.

Tap Water

Hey Guys,
Here are my tap water chemistries.

Ammonia .25
Nitrides 0.3
nitrates 10ppm
PH 8.0p

My water is so much clearer. I love it.
Changed 60% water with no changes from my last change yesterday.
Thanks All

Jim

Tap Water

Is there anything I should do with my tap water, besides the NovAqua Plus. What about switching to reverse on my 55 gal. ugf powerheads

Ammonia Level

I have done three 60% water changes today. The results are.
Ammonia 0.5
Nitrides 0
Nitrates .25
PH 7.0.
Anymore suggestions? The water is crystal clear and I love it.
Does my tap water chemistry have anything to do with 0.5 ammonia reading after 5 heavy duty changes.
Thanks,

Jim

That and not having a fully established bacteria colony for your bio-load. Why not do just one today and see what you get.

You should see the times between needed water change increase.

This is a good idea but lets take this one step at a time. Have you tested your tap water yet? Reversing the flow will help the filters collect the gunk that would normaly stick to the gravel. This will mean lots more filter cleaning in tank water but this is a good thing.

Water Changes

I changed water once today and both are still at 0.5 ammonia and less than .3 nitrides. But I have great news, I found bio-spira at a local tropical fish store. I have already added it to both tanks.

Bio Spira

What kind of time frame am I looking at for the bio spira to start working.
Will I need a second dose for nitrides? When can I perform another water change? Your help is always appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jim

If you got a good batch of Bio-spira I would say within a day or two. Btw, was the Bio-spira refrigerated when you bought it? Water changes are reccomened when every you have more than .25 ammonia ppm and/or above .25 nitrIte ppm. Once your tank is cycled this will change as you will not have any ammonia or nitrIte.
