Newt's 65 gallon planted tank renovation

Whats the green bubbles on pic 1 in the moss?

And in pic 7 & 8 of the plants whats that black mass?

if i may ask, why did you put oak leaves in there

More pics tomorrow; I went to the swamp today and picked up some Sagittaria (maybe S. brevirostra, not sure though), more Riccia fluitans, Azolla caroliniana, more Ludwigia palustris, as well as some small Rumex verticillatus and Saururus cernuus. I eyeballed some nice Polygonum and Cyperus but decided I really didn't have room for them. I also added a piece of driftwood, which turned the water to tea overnight (I'm sure the oak leaves helped too), my sirens, some eastern ghost shrimp, a couple more bluefin killies, and a small crayfish that was in the ghost shrimp tank at the LFS. I also found a single male guppy in my siren tank, left over from a batch I added months ago, so he went in too.

247- in both cases those are balls of the ubiquitous filamentous cyanobacterium Nostoc commune. The spring I collected the plants from has spectacular columns and masses of Nostoc; see my avatar for one such column about 24" in height.

Fishfiles- I added leaves for both nutrition and a little tannin boost.
