I have not kept saltwater fish in several years so I am a bit unsure of which fish can be kept together.

I started a 46 gallon bowfront saltwater tank about 2 months ago. I am now thinking of changing my 90 or 150 over the saltwater.

I have a baby Niger Trigger in the 46, can this fish be kept with any other trigger? In the 46, 90, or 150???

Any advice would be great.

Thanks Bill

Welcome to Aquaria Central! Nigers in general can be kept with other triggers. I would do it in the 150 though due to the Niger's adult size. I currently have 2 Nigers together, but some other good combos are the Huma, Huma Rectangle, White tail, Bursa, true Bursa (Sufflamen lei), among a few others. Hope this helps and good luck!

Niger and Mollies?

I read in one of the other posts that mollies can be kept with Damsels and a Niger Trigger. Is this true long term or it only while the Trigger is young and can't eat them?

I don't know about mollies, but I have a yellow tail damsel and a Huma Huma (Picaso) trigger and have zero aggression problems, even at feeding time.

I personally think Mollies would be a bit too peaceful compared to the Damsel and Trigger. Damsels are compared to the freshwater African Cichlid (there is some belief that Africans are distant relatives to the damsel) and those are too aggressive for Mollies. I would say it would work with the Trigger when young but when the Niger is adult it may be another story. Anyway, hope this helps and good luck!

Mollies & niger.

So far, my Niger has eaten 4 of my original 6 mollies (the mollies were used to cycle the tank). Two of them were sailfins, and were only about an inch shorter than him. I think he finally got big enough & looked over at them & said LUNCHTIME!! I think they were in the tank together for at least a year-maybe more. So yes, you can put them with it, but don't expect them to co-exist forever!
