well I am thinking of christmas once again ( yeah early I know) Seems my kids want a Wii, and I heard there pretty pricey. Can you give me some good info on them.....

1. easy of hooking up
2. ease of us.
3. needed equipment to buy as extra's

any help you feel would help me out :) thanks so much I am wanting to get the extra's now so when the time comes I can get the box. are they still running short on these?

Over here they're really cheap, especially when compared to the PS3 ($1000 for the complete system, two controllers 'n' stuff), the Wii was $200 so they're not as pricey as you might think, they also come with "Wii Sports" which is really fun.

Setting up is a breeze, all you do is get one of those red/yellow/white cords and plug it into the back of the Wii and the TV, then plug the Wii into a power outlet, then plug the sensor bar into the back of the Wii and place it where convenient (you have to tell the Wii if the sensor bar is above or below the television in the menu)...

The whole thing about the Wii is that it's easy to use, pick-up-and-play sort of thing that, you'll get the hang of playing with it really soon, just remember to keep your wrist strap on AT ALL TIMES, otherwise you may smash the TV or a window... it's happened

The extras depend on the games, an extra controller would set you back about $40 ($65 Austrlian over here, so I can't really say about you guys), a nun-chuk attachment would be about $15? You get a Wiimote and a nun-chuk with the game, if you're looking at buying some games check in the top-right hand of the box, it'll tell you how many players can play and any required attachments.

If you're using an HD TV you may have to get some of those cords, I don't use it
There are many extras, like, lots of them so just suss them all out, most of them are thneeds though

Hope I helped you out :)

:iagree:
extremely easy to setup. for extras I would buy as many controllers & nunchucks as you think you need. they are fairly cheap ($250) compared to the xbox 360 ($249/$349/$499) and ps3 ($500/$600)

I would invest in the rechargeable battery packs/charger. It saves much cash in the long run on batteries. Not having extra batteries handy during that boss fight in Zelda is BAD.

Just a side note:
IMHO, (you should know ahead of time that I don't play console systems because I find major button pushing to be tedious and annoying), I LOVE our Wii. Zelda is great, as is Wii sports...it will get you up and moving...did you know that people have devised whole exercise routines for the Wii? The boxing will get you broke out into a sweat, guaranteed. http://wiinintendo.net/2007/01/15/wii-sports-experiment-results/

It is just a completely different experience from anything out there before. It is a pick-up and play kinda thing. If you move your hand to the right, the character moves his/her hand to the right....it's awesome :) We got one at Thanksgiving and took it home to my 70+ year old in-laws and they were up and bowling with us in no time flat. It's a good family thing, even young kids can do it.....and it's a bunch of laughs :)
