Hi,

Is it normal to have 0 nitrate levels? I’ve been recording my tank conditions for a month, after some of my fish died. I had an initial spike, due to the dead fish, but now the ammonia, nitite and nitrate have dropped to zero. I’ve attached a graph showing the levels. The Ammonia levels are *10 so that they can be read easier.

I agree with Dougall only would make sense if you have live plants that would consume the Nitrate

What size tank? Stocking level?

As said, plants will consume the standard compounds we measure for in our aquariums, but it's got to be the right balance for it to happen to the point you can't see any nitrate.

FWIW, most of my tanks are loaded front to back and side/side with rooted, floating and rhizome plants, yet I still get nitrate creep because of my stocking level, feeding, etc.
