Nitrate spike!! help!

Something's wrong... :help:

Well I noticed today one of my new angelfish is acting weird.. I just got the gut feeling something was wrong, so I tested the water... everything was normal except my Nitrates where at 10.. so I did about a 30% water change, tested the water and my nitrates where still at 5!! :eek:

I thought maybe my tap water now has nitrates in it... so I tested, and it came out zero........so, what should I do now?? I'm assuming another maybe 50% water change tomorrow morning... but how and why would my nitrates suddenly spike?? :confused:

Are you thinking of NitrItes?
 
I usually do about 50% water change every 8days... last i changed the water was tuesday night..

I'm just so use to having not even 5ppm
 
he's only about 4inches, if even that....... hmm, but maybe... :huh:

guess i need to look for a new home for him, or move him to a bigger tank... i'll see how my water tests come out over the next 2weeks...
