I picked up a couple of dime size angels from That Fish Place this afternoon. I have been drip acclimating for about an hour. Why so long....I tested the water in the bag and the nitrAtes are over 80. The nitrAtes in my tank is 10.

How far down should I get the nitrAtes in the bag before I transfer to my tank? I am concerned about shocking the little lovlies.

Oh, and I did call them to let them know the nitrAtes are stupid high in that tank (at least).

If they are that small, and you got them at an LFS, it is doubtful they have been maintained in 80 notrate water for that long of a time.

I would net them out and transfer to your tank.

I have put them in the tank. They immediately scurried under the driftwood. Lights are off now. I can cover the tank for full blackout if anyone thinks it will help them settle in.

These 2 little guys, a 3 month old platy and 2 apple snails are all that's in the tank (37g). I have another angel in my 55 who is considerable larger. Gonna give it 3 weeks or so before moving the one in the 55.

you shouldn't have to do a total blackout..give them a couple days to adjust to the new surroundings.

are you thinking of moving the large angel to the 37 with the 2 younger angels?

if you do keep an eye out ..also this tank will be maxed out ..

Yea. the 50 cent size angel will move over in a few weeks. I plan to give the 2 babies time to make this tank their own. My hope is that since they will be the established fish, the larger angel will be a little more shy to start with.

The angels will the the ONLY fish in this tank. If fact, the single platy will come out as soon as I can catch her again!

keep watching them. they will probably huddle together for the first dat under the drifwood, and they may start to venture around together after a day or so.

why dont you move the big angel to the 37 gallon and the new ones to the 55 gallon?

The 55 has 4 male guppies, 8 female guppies, 8 glofish, 4 neon rainbows, 1 RTBS (may have to find a new home soon), and 1 clown pleco and some common snails. I don't think the 55 is the right home for the angels. The guppies and the glofish swim too quickly and erratically for the angels. The plan all along was to have and angel tank.

As soon as I can convince my husband we have the space, there will be a 125 here. That will be for angels and, hopefully, discus.

From my experience, 125 gal tanks look best in pairs...
