NO! Cleaning Problem

My dad cleaned my empty tank today with glass cleaner (on the inside!) without me knowing. I rinsed it really well a couple hours later. Think it will still be safe to use?

It's a 35 gallon tank so I don't just want to throw it out.

I would clean it a couple times, with warm-hot water. The main thing in most glass cleaners is amonia, so I would think as long as you clean it out good...it shouldnt hurt.

You can just send it to me if you want...

Actually the ammonia is acutely toxic, but the long-term danger is from the detergents/sufactants/wetting agents. Multiple rinses and soaks are in order.

I think with several very hot rinses and refills, and some scrubbing, you should be all set.

And, be sure to take this opportunity to educate Dad about proper aquarium cleaning to avoid this sort of mishap in the future! Parents - gotta love 'em!!
