VIENNA, Austria -- Ol' St. Nick is getting nixed in Vienna, Austria.

Local officials are banning Santa from city kindergartens.



Councilwoman Grete Laska said Santa Claus sends the wrong message to children, who are told not to accept gifts from strangers.

She said kindergartens may hold Christmas parties, as long Santa is nowhere in sight.

Other officials said the ban is also prompted by concern the rotund, bearded fellow will frighten youngsters.

No way!!!!

But opposition leaders contend the Santa ban is an example of political correctness gone too far.

Most kids from around 3-5 are afraid of santa for some reason. I know both my kids would run when they saw a person dressed up in a santa suit. Go to the local mall and watch the picture with santa area most small kids will be crying and screaming when they see him.

The part about PC going to far, It's hard to say they are calling it a "christmas" party and not a holiday party. We all know that the word christmas isn't PC anymore.

I don't know the world is full of sick people. I wouldn't put it past someone to dress as santa to kidnap a child. It's sad to say, but it's better to be safe than sorry.
